Thomas M. Simplot, born January 30, 1961, is an American politician and attorney. He served on the Phoenix City Council from 2003 until 2013, becoming vice mayor in January 2009 and representing District 4. Notably, he is the first openly gay member of the Council. Simplot is also President and CEO of the Arizona Multihousing Association and has held public service roles under former Arizona Governor Fife Symington and Maricopa County Supervisor Betsey Bayless. He is a longtime Phoenix resident and is educated from Arizona State University and the University of Iowa College of Law.
