Thomas 'Tom' E. Sneva is a retired American race car driver known for winning the Indianapolis 500 race in 1983. He was recognized for his exceptional qualifying skills, securing pole position in the same event three times in 1977, 1978, and 1984. Sneva was also the fastest in qualifying in 1981, although he did not start in first position that year due to regulations. In addition to his racing victories, he won the USAC National Championship in 1977 and 1978. His younger brothers, Jerry and Jan Sneva, are also race car drivers.
