Tom Towns, born on March 17, 1953, was a prominent linebacker for the Edmonton Eskimos in the CFL. He played college football with the University of Alberta Golden Bears, contributing to their Vanier Cup Championship in 1972. Towns was named a Canada West All-Star twice and played on both offense and defense in 1973. His ten-year career with the Eskimos saw him as part of a successful linebacking trio, leading to 7 Grey Cups and 6 victories. He concluded his career with the Ottawa Rough Riders after being traded in 1985.
