Thomas Verdell was an American college football player and coach born on May 8, 1905, in Alabama. He played at Northwestern University from 1926 to 1928. After graduating in 1929, he became the head coach at Howard University until 1933. He later joined Virginia State University in 1934, where he worked for 39 years in various roles, including assistant coach, head coach in boxing, track, and wrestling, and served as an associate professor and acting athletic director.
