Tomio Y. Petrosky is an American physicist born on March 30, 1947. He has a Japanese mother and an American father and graduated from Tokyo University of Science. His expertise includes non-equilibrium statistical physics, symmetry breaking in time, complex systems, chaos theory, quantum mechanics, classical mechanics, and nanophysics. After obtaining his PhD in 1979, he worked under Ilya Prigogine, co-authoring numerous papers. He has held visiting professor positions in several Japanese research institutions and is active in science outreach and education initiatives in both Japan and the US.
