Tommy Whittle was a British jazz saxophonist born on October 13, 1926, in Grangemouth, Scotland. He began playing the clarinet at the age of twelve and switched to tenor saxophone a year later. Whittle performed with the band of trombonist Ted Heath from 1946 to 1952 and collaborated with notable musicians including Ronnie Scott and Kenny Wheeler. In 1973, he was featured on a track from Caravan's album 'For Girls Who Grow Plump in the Night.' He passed away on his 87th birthday, October 13, 2013.
