After initially being part of Oguruma stable, he transferred to Nishonoseki stable in 2022 and moved to Nakamura stable in June 2024. Tomokaze garnered recognition for defeating a yokozuna, earning him two kinboshi and one special prize. However, he faced significant challenges with a major knee injury that sidelined him for nearly two years.
