Sugimoto has collaborated with various artists including Chie Ayado and Masabumi Kikuchi, contributing to eleven jazz recording sessions between 1996 and 2011. In the 2010s, he performed with the Tamaya Honda Bass Voodoo Trio and in a duo with pianist Yoshichika Tarue. His contributions to the jazz scene showcase his versatility and talent as a bassist.
