He achieved significant success in the late 1970s and early 1980s, winning Gold at the 1978 Asian Games and Silver at the 1979 Asian Championships. He also secured victories at the Pacific Conference Games and Asian Championships in 1981 and defended his Asian Games title in 1982. Despite being a strong competitor at various international events, including the World Cup and Olympics, he faced challenges in final rounds. His personal best height was 5.53 meters, set in 1984.
