Oriah Anthony Gara (1939-2006) was a Zimbabwean businessman and politician who held significant roles in local governance. He served as the mayor of Harare from 1985 to 1986 and was a member of the House of Assembly for Mbare East from 1990 to 2000. Gara was appointed as deputy minister of local government, rural and urban development from 1995 to 2000. A former accountant and CEO of Negondo Industries, he was active in the Zimbabwe African National Union (ZANU) and became the first black city council member in Salisbury, now Harare.
