Tony Hicks was a British fusion drummer, born on August 8, 1948, in Middlesbrough. He learned to play the drums in high school and started his career as a roadie at the age of sixteen before becoming a drummer in Eric Delaney's band. In 1971, he formed the band Back Door with Colin Hodgkinson and Ron Aspery, recording several albums until 1975. Hicks collaborated with various notable artists, including Andy Fraser, Robert Wyatt, and Chris Rea, and also performed in Australia with Pacific Eardrum and the English Jazz Quartet until his death on August 12, 2006.
