He studied at the Cleveland School of Art and initially worked at Disney as an in-betweener before shifting to comic books in 1949 with Western Publishing. Strobl developed a distinctive art style characterized by cheerful expressions and a gentle comedic pace. He contributed significantly to Donald Duck comics and later illustrated children's picture books. His final work for Disney was as a writer for the animated series DuckTales.
