He was the son of Nils Martin Mosvold, founder of the Mosvold Shipping Group. After the death of his father in 1956, company interests were divided among his sons. Torrey actively participated in the Norwegian maritime sector and served as director in various associated companies. He was also involved with the Mission Covenant Church of Norway and supported the Mosvold Hospital in South Africa. He received the Commander of the Royal Norwegian Order of St. Olav in 1971.
