Toru Onzuka is a Japanese basketball coach who is currently the head coach of the Japan Women's National Basketball Team. He is also a former head coach of the Tokyo Medical and Health University Women's Basketball Team and an associate professor at the university. Onzuka was born in Oita Prefecture in 1979. He started playing basketball at a young age and decided to become a coach instead of a player. He attended Tsukuba University and joined the basketball team. After graduating, he became a teacher at Shibuya Education Gakuen Makuhari Junior and Senior High School and coached the girls' basketball team. In 2006, he founded the women's basketball team at Tokyo Medical and Health University. He also worked as a video coordinator for the Japan Women's National Basketball Team and later became an assistant coach under Tom Hovasse. In 2021, he was appointed as the head coach of the Japan Women's National Basketball Team.
