Tōru Shōriki was a prominent Japanese businessman, known as the owner of The Yomiuri Group, the parent company of Yomiuri Shimbun Holdings. Born on October 24, 1918, he was the eldest son of Matsutarō Shōriki. He graduated from the Faculty of Economics at Keio University in 1942. Shōriki also owned the Yomiuri Giants baseball team from 1964 until 1996, holding the title of 'honorary owner' until his passing on August 15, 2011, in Tokyo.
