Toshiko Karasawa was a prominent Japanese politician and labor activist associated with the Japanese Communist Party. Born in Sapporo, Hokkaido, in 1911, she graduated from Sapporo Kita High School in 1929. Karasawa served two terms in the House of Representatives during the years 1946 and 1949. After her political career, she retired and passed away at the age of 102 in December 2013 due to natural causes.
