She falsely claimed to have been a victim of sexual abuse, including satanic ritual abuse, to obtain money. Throneberry traveled across the U.S. under false identities, staying with foster homes and families. After her arrest in 2001 for fraud and perjury, DNA testing confirmed her identity. While diagnosed as not delusional, she received a three-year prison sentence, serving two years and three months.
