Trond R. Reinertsen is a Norwegian economist and business leader, born on December 12, 1945. He earned a Ph.D. from the University of Utah and served as chief director of the Norwegian Bank Association from 1978 to 1997. Reinertsen chaired the State Ownership Select Committee in 2004 and worked as a state secretary during the Norwegian banking crisis. He owns Smith Stål and E. A. Smith, the latter of which operates Bygger'n, a building materials chain. He is related to the Cappelen family through his ancestor Elias Anton Smith.
