Troy Floyd was an American musician known for his work as a tenor and alto saxophonist, and clarinetist, leading a territory band in San Antonio related to Kansas City jazz. He founded his first band in 1924, which gained popularity through local radio and recordings. His ensemble, Troy Floyd and His Plaza Hotel Orchestra, was one of the early African-American bands to record music. Floyd's band included notable musicians like Herschel Evans and Don Albert. He later managed a pool hall in San Diego where he passed away in 1953.
