He began his journalism career in 1978 with Cumhuriyet Gazetesi, holding various editorial positions at major newspapers like Günaydın, Sabah, and Akşam. Vardar co-founded Fotospor Gazetesi and later served as a press advisor for Galatasaray Sports Club. He was also a press advisor for the Turkish national team at the 2000 UEFA European Championship. He spoke English and French and battled stomach cancer until his death in January 2006.
