Tuula Karppinen, born on January 18, 1958, in Pori, is a former Finnish shot putter, pentathlete, and rower. As a shot put athlete, she was a five-time Finnish outdoor champion and a two-time indoor champion. Her personal best in shot put was 18.54 m set in 1980, making her the first Finnish female shot putter to exceed 18 meters. After her athletics career, she found success in rowing, winning several Finnish championships, including four individual and four double skull titles.
