He was a key figure in samba music, known for co-founding the Cacique de Ramos carnival group and the Fundo de Quintal samba ensemble. Ubirany was instrumental in popularizing the repique de mão, an important samba instrument associated with Fundo de Quintal, which he helped establish in the 1970s. He passed away on December 11, 2020, due to complications from COVID-19.
