Ulla Britt Torpe (1925-1998) was a Swedish literary scholar, author, debater, and teacher. She grew up in Värmland and studied at Uppsala University, where she became associated with prominent literary figures. Torpe published her first novel, 'Ann', in 1961. She participated in feminist literary seminars and co-founded the feminist network Grupp 8 in 1968. In 1992, she completed her doctorate on Selma Lagerlöf and became the chair of the Selma Lagerlöf Society in 1994. She taught Swedish and psychology for several decades.
