Umayya Abu-Hanna is a Palestinian-Finnish writer and journalist born on March 17, 1961, in Haifa. She is a former member of the Helsinki City Council. Coming from a Palestinian family, her father was the poet Hanna Abu-Hanna. She moved to Finland in 1981 and later to Amsterdam in 2011, where she currently resides with her South African daughter.
