Umeko Shimomura (1912-2012) was a Japanese haiku poet born in Fukuoka Prefecture. She was renowned for her contributions to the literary group 'Katsuragi', where she served as a special member and a representative writer. Shimomura studied under the guidance of poet Abo no Seifu and was an honorary member of the Haiku Association. Her husband, nonpoet Shimomura Hibun, was also a notable poet. Her work has significantly influenced the haiku community.
