Pirkkala and collaborated with Asko Martinheimo. A former elementary school teacher, he earned a degree in Humanities in 1966. Despite being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in the mid-1970s, Nojonen continued to write until the early 2000s, using an adapted method due to his declining mobility. His notable works include 'Sigmund Freudin kaamea flunssa', which received comparisons to J.D. Salinger's 'The Catcher in the Rye'.
