Urho Riihikoski is a Finnish veterinarian and non-fiction author, born on December 6, 1930, in Kuru, Finland. He graduated from Tampereen yhteiskoulu in 1951 and earned his degree in veterinary medicine in Stockholm in 1959. In recognition of his contributions, he was awarded an honorary doctorate in veterinary medicine from the University of Helsinki in 1995. In addition to his academic achievements, Riihikoski was a talented athlete, winning a bronze medal in the 110 meters hurdles at the 1951 Kalevan Games.
