Urpo 'Upi' Martikainen, born on April 16, 1947, in Helsinki, is a former news anchor for the Finnish television channel MTV3. He joined Kymmenen uutiset from Swedish television SVT Uutisten in 1982. Martikainen lived in Koskela during his childhood and has resided in Pirkkola since 1986. He developed the closing segment for Kymmenen uutiset and aired his final broadcast on May 27, 2010. Additionally, he enjoys watercolor painting and playing the violin and harmonica, while also being a member of Jehovah's Witnesses, which influenced his refusal of military service.
