Ute van der Mâer, born Ute Straka on February 17, 1971, in Wolgast, is a German composer, music educator, Germanist, and artist. Growing up on the island of Usedom, she was trained in various instruments and studied music education and German studies at the University of Potsdam. She became a doctor in philosophy with her dissertation on Gregorian Chant. van der Mâer has composed numerous works, including musicals and choir arrangements, and she teaches music and German at a secondary school. She has also pursued artistic studies in graphic arts and painting.
