V. G. Chelidze was a prominent Georgian mathematician born on March 2, 1906, in Sukhumi. He specialized in the theory of real variable functions and functional analysis, significantly contributing to the double integral theory and defining conditions for convergence in double series. Chelidze served as the head of the Department of Real Variable Functions and Functional Analysis at Tbilisi State University from 1950 to 1978. He was recognized as a Corresponding Member of the Georgian Academy of Sciences and an Honored Worker of the Georgian SSR before his passing on July 14, 1978.
