Wasilij Iwanowicz Płatonow, born on December 31, 1902, in Kerch, was a Soviet admiral who served during World War II. He was the chief of staff of the Northern Fleet and participated in the Petsamo–Kirkenes operation. Płatonow was promoted to admiral in 1951 and passed away on March 26, 1996, in Moscow, where he was buried at the Vagonkovo Cemetery.
