V. K. Sasikala (born August 18, 1954) is an Indian businesswoman and politician who is the current president of the Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam, a Dravidian party. She was a close friend of J. Jayalalithaa, who led the AIADMK from 1989 until her death in 2016. Sasikala was elected as the AIADMK general secretary after Jayalalithaa's death but was removed from the position on August 20, 2017. She was convicted and sentenced by the Supreme Court on February 14, 2017, which ended her political ambitions. In January 2021, she was released and later joined the BJP in 2022.
