V Shanta (11 March 1927 - 19 January 2021) was a prominent Indian oncologist and the head of the Adyar Cancer Institute in Chennai. She was renowned for her contributions to providing accessible and affordable cancer care for patients in India. Throughout her life, she dedicated herself to various initiatives supporting cancer patients, researched cancer studies and treatment, and promoted awareness of the disease. She was instrumental in encouraging specialists and scientists in oncology. The Government of India honored her with the Padma Shri in 1968, the Padma Bhushan in 2006, and the Padma Vibhushan in 2016.
