Varadarajulu Kailasa Subbiah (1911-1993) was an influential Indian communist politician from Pondicherry. He played a significant role in the labor movement, founding trade unions and advocating for workers' rights. Subbiah was a prominent figure in the independence struggle against French colonial rule and held various political positions, including the leader of the opposition and a minister in post-independence Pondicherry. His efforts were recognized with the Tamrapatra award, and after his death, he was honored with a statue in Pondicherry and a commemorative stamp on his birth centenary.
