Vagan Shakhgildyan (February 28, 1935 - April 3, 2012) was an Armenian scientist in the field of communications and computer systems. He earned a Doctorate in Technical Sciences in 1970 and became a professor in 1971. Shakhgildyan was an overseas member of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia in 2005 and was elected as a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences in 2006. He was recognized as a distinguished figure in science and technology in the RSFSR.
