Vahan Ghazarian was an Armenian botanist, born on January 1, 1918, in Khndzoresk, Zangezur. He earned a doctorate in biological sciences and became a professor in 1951. Ghazarian was recognized as an academician of the Armenian National Academy of Sciences in 1974. He contributed significantly to the field of botany until his passing on August 9, 2002, in Yerevan, Armenia.
