Vaidyeswaran Rajaraman (born 1933) is a distinguished Indian engineer, academic, and writer, recognized for his foundational work in Computer Science Education in India. He initiated the first academic program in computer science at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur in 1965. He is an elected fellow of all Indian science academies and has received prestigious awards such as the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize, the Om Prakash Bhasin Award, and the Homi Bhabha Prize. In 1998, he was honored with the Padma Bhushan by the Government of India for his significant contributions to science.
