Valentin Nikolaevich Pavlinov (February 22, 1908 – January 9, 1999) was a Soviet geologist and a doctor of geological and mineralogical sciences. He is known for discovering the Goltsovskoye deposit, serving as rector of the Moscow Geological Prospecting Institute, and being a member of the committee for Lenin and State Prizes in the USSR. He also served as a deputy in the Krasnopresnensky District Council of Working People's Deputies in Moscow and as the deputy chair of the expert commission of the Supreme Attestation Commission of the USSR. He was honored as a distinguished geologist of the RSFSR in 1972.
