Valentin Mikhailovich Parmon is a Soviet and Russian scientist born on April 18, 1948, in Brandenburg an der Havel, GDR. He specializes in catalysis and photocatalysis, chemical kinetics in condensed phases, chemical radio-spectroscopy, and energy conversion methods, including unconventional and renewable energy sources. Parmon earned his Doctor of Chemistry in 1985 and became a professor in 1989. He was elected as a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences in 1991 and became a full member in 1997. He received the Russian State Prize in 2009 and is a foreign member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus since 2021.
