Valentina Medina, also known as Iere, was born on May 6, 1933, in Mount Pleasant, Arima. She became the fifth Carib Queen in 2000 after being elected at the Santa Rosa Carib Community Centre. Medina embraced the Carib way of life from childhood and was active in traditional practices following her marriage to John Medina. She was honored as queen for a day multiple times before her official installation as queen on her birthday in 2000. She served as a prominent figure in her community until her death on April 23, 2011.
