Valentino Castellani, born on March 19, 1940, is an Italian politician who served as the independent mayor of Turin from June 24, 1993, to June 1, 2001. He is a prominent university professor and a graduate of the Polytechnic University of Turin, holding a master's degree in electronic engineering (1963) and electrical engineering from MIT (1966). Castellani has authored nearly 70 scientific publications, focusing on transmission theory and encryption related to satellites and mobile communications. He was also the organizing committee chair for the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin.
