Valery Babkin is a Ukrainian scientist and veterinarian born on January 24, 1939, in Melitopol, Zaporizhzhia Oblast. He is a Doctor of Veterinary Sciences (1996) and a Professor (1999), honored as a Distinguished Worker of Agriculture of Ukraine (1998). After graduating from Kharkiv Zooveterinary Institute in 1962, he worked as a veterinarian and joined the Institute of Experimental and Clinical Veterinary Medicine in 1967, later becoming the head of the epizootiology laboratory and deputy director for research and economics, and served as director from 1997 to 1999. His research includes radiobiology, immunology, and animal hormonal status.
