Valery Petrov (born September 7, 1943) is a Russian musician known for his contributions to the Leningrad jazz scene from the 1960s to the 1980s. He started as a wind instrumentalist in the late 1950s and transitioned to playing drums and trumpet. Petrov formed several jazz ensembles, performed in various prestigious bands, and worked with numerous notable musicians. He is recognized for his role in jazz clubs and orchestras in Leningrad, as well as his teaching contributions in music. He was featured in a documentary about St. Petersburg jazz in 1990.
