Valto Olenius was a Finnish pole vaulter born in Karkkila on December 12, 1920. He competed in the 1940s and 1950s, earning a seventh place at the 1948 Summer Olympics in London and placing fifth in the same event at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics. He won a silver medal in pole vault at the 1950 European Athletics Championships and secured three national championships from 1950 to 1952. Olenius repeatedly broke the national pole vault record, setting it at 4.31 meters in 1953. After retiring, he became a coach, notably for athlete Pentti Nikula.
