Following the murder of his elder brother Vangaveeti Radha, he took leadership of the United Independent Organization, amidst a backdrop of violent political rivalry, particularly with the Devineni family. His political career was marked by intense conflict, culminating in his assassination during a land rights protest on December 26, 1988. His murder sparked widespread riots across several districts.
