Velagapalli Varaprasada Rao is an Indian politician and former Member of Parliament for the Tirupati constituency in Andhra Pradesh. He was elected in the 2014 general elections as a candidate from the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP). An IAS officer by training, he resigned from civil service to enter politics. In 2019, he became an MLA for Gudur Constituency, also representing YSRCP. In 2024, he left YSRCP to join the Bharatiya Janata Party and was selected to contest the Lok Sabha elections from Tirupati.
