Vasile Cărăbiș (February 13, 1909 – March 24, 2001) was a Romanian historian and ethnographer notable for his research on the history of Oltenia. He was recognized as one of the prominent researchers of this region. According to historian Alexandru Ștefulescu, Cărăbiș was highly competent in writing about Gorj County, particularly the villages along the Jaleș Valley, dedicating his life to research and literature on the subject.
