Vasiliy Ivanovitsj Sokolenko was a Ukrainian artist and educator known for his mastery of Petrykivka painting. He was awarded the title of Honored Master of Folk Art of the Ukrainian SSR in 1981 and became a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine in 1962. A veteran of World War II, he received several honors, including the Order of Personal Courage and the Order of the Patriotic War, along with a Certificate of Honor from the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine in 1999.
