Vasily Alexandrovich Vodolazhsky was a colonel in the Soviet Army and a participant in the liquidation of the aftermath of the Chernobyl disaster. He was recognized as a Hero of the Russian Federation in 1995 for his service and bravery during this critical event. Vodolazhsky's efforts contributed significantly to the emergency response efforts during one of the worst nuclear accidents in history.
