Vasyl Ivanovych Kovbas (born January 11, 1937, in Stinka, now part of the Buchach district of Ternopil region) was a prominent Ukrainian politician. He served as the chairman of the Chernivtsi Regional Council from 1992 to 1994. Kovbas was active in local politics during a transformative period for Ukraine following the end of the Soviet Union. He passed away on September 30, 2014, in Chernivtsi.
